'67 Shelby G.T. Package
Codes Ford Motor Company created a total of 48 package codes for anticipated orders of '67 model year vehicles from Shelby American. These alphanumeric 'package codes' decoded the vehicle's configuration, including engine, transmission, components (e.g. air-conditioning and/or emissions), and body style. The Coupe (Hardtop) "H" body style was being considered, and pre-production memos refer to it as "optional." A single G.T. 500 Coupe (#0131) was requisitioned and built early in production. A Convertible "C" body style was planned to be introduced as a mid-year (1967 ½) model. Drop-tops do tend to sell better when it's not snowing. A G.T. 500 Convertible (#0139) was requisitioned and built early in production.. It is unknown if any convertibles were ordered in April 1967 (as originally planned), and subsequently canceled. The microfiche file containing the DSOs is incomplete (there is no End of Record marker). According to a document titled "1967 Shelby American GT-350 Vehicle Codes (Revised)", dated August 11, 1966, consideration was being given to a dual-quad 289 hi-po (289-8V - Ford Cobra 289 CID 8V). As of this document's date, the corresponding package codes had not been created in the Ford computer system, and as history teaches us, that engine offering was never officially built by Ford.
